Campaigns

DEGRAF has participated in different campaigns through its history. Always with the purpose of being a contribution to decontamination and raising awareness of environment protection and being responsible about our waste.

Some of these campaigns are:

Mobile Recycling Campaign

In 2009 DEGRAF has contracted with “Metro de Santiago” to remove and recycle all obsolete cell phones devices and accessories collected from the metro stations, where users can leave them for free.

This successful Campaign has already exceeded 100,000 cell phones devices has already more than 10 tonnes, and it helps to prevent environmental damage made by disposing you cell phone devices in your household waste, as they contain heavy metals highly polluting that can contaminates the environment by contaminating water through groundwater.

Collected Cell Phones devices are sent to our Recycling Plant where they are sorted and dismantled, separating the batteries which are sent to final disposal and the other part of the device (metals and plastics) are used as raw material in the productive cycle. (See Process Diagram).

This Campaign works together with Claro Chile and is a contribution to the children’s education on social risk by BELEN EDUCA Foundation who receives cash donation for every cell phone collected.

Waste Reception Easter Island

On April 19, 2011 the Environment Minister, María Ignacia Benitez visited DEGRAF facilities to symbolically receive electronic waste sent from Easter Island to the continent by the Armada de Chile.
